Dr. Emilie Perras - Chiropractor
Let me introduce myself, my name is Dr. Emilie, and I’m a family wellness Doctor of Chiropractic in Ottawa.
I’m a small-town French girl from Penetang, who later moved to Ottawa for university, then headed to Toronto for post-graduate Chiropractic school. To get to know me better, here are three things that I really like (other than my husband Martin and son Ori, of course!): I love to read, I’m crazy about chocolate and I love being around kids; especially when they’re getting healthier naturally!!
Many chiropractic patients have a miracle story about chiropractic. Mine is different - my story started when my mom started bringing me to a chiropractor when I was 3 years old.!! When my mom was pregnant with one of my brothers, she quickly gained 50 lbs, all in her belly. It literally looked like she had a watermelon under her shirt. Not surprisingly, she began experiencing severe back pain. She started seeing a chiropractor and had such great results that she decided to bring the whole family in for check-ups. From then on, myself, my three brothers, and my mom went to the chiropractor regularly for wellness care. I feel blessed that my mom learned about the importance of chiropractic early on. “As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.”
When it came time to choose a career - it was a natural choice. I wanted to help people be healthy, and stay healthy through chiropractic. My mission now is to help other families achieve total health so they can live life to their full potential. It’s strange how life is, because now people come to see me for pregnancy care and family chiropractic. Also they come to me with their headaches, migraines, chronic pain, neck pain, shoulder/arm pain, whiplash from car accidents, ear infections, asthma, allergies, numbness in limbs, athletic injuries,…to name a few!
Our patients often thank us for “curing” them of their health problems. But I can’t really take the credit. What I do is perform a specific spinal adjustment to remove nerve pressure, and the body responds by healing itself. We get tremendous results - it’s as simple as that!!
My qualification - I’m a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College with a Dean’s Honours List Bachelor of Science degree. I also attend postgraduate seminars constantly to stay up to date with the latest techniques and research. Through additional study, I attained a certification from the Academy of Family Practice and Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics. I’ve been entrusted to take care of tiny babies to high level athletes to seniors – and I’d be happy to take care of you!
My team and I are here to help families achieve better health naturally.
God bless,
Dr. Emilie Perras
Martin Perras - Acupuncturist
Bonjour! My name is Martin, and I’m the Acupuncturist at Oak Tree Chiropractic, Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. I studied at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
No, I am not Chinese, I am French Canadian. Let me tell you how a young French Canadian decides to learn Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. At the age of 25 I had hit the jack pot; I was the owner of a very successful company. I had clients all over Canada and the US, including companies like Microsoft, Coke, Boeing, Ford and many more Fortune 500 companies. I had great employees and life was good. Business was amazing, yet something was missing.
My fire was slowly dimming and I wanted a career that was more about serving and helping people. So I decided to sell it all and look for a career with new meaning. With the influence of my beautiful wife, Dr. Emilie (Chiropractor), I started to look into health care, as I had always been very passionate about health. After careful consideration, I chose to study Chinese Medicine because of the principles, the beliefs and the depths of what it offers.
Chinese Medicine is all about prevention, which is so important to me. There was a time in China where the Chinese Medicine doctors would only get rewarded financially when their patients were healthy. This encouraged them to focus on getting the patients well, then keeping them well with prevention.
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine have healed people for over 3000 years. I’m excited about what acupuncture offers, as it has a holistic approach: mind, body, and soul. It can help with a wide variety of physical and emotional conditions such as: Addictions, Arthritis, Cancer, Depression/Anxiety, Diabetes, Digestive Issues, Headaches, Heart Disease, High blood pressure, Fatigue, Fertility, Menopause and Weight loss. Ask me how it can help you!
God bless,
Martin Perras, Reg. Ac
